Potato Chips Can Trigger Cancer?
Newhealth.ga -
Potato chips are usually considered a food that can cause weight gain. In fact,
in reality, potato chips that can be easily found in supermarkets or shops near
this house can also cause far worse health effects.
Quoted from the Daily
Health Post, a study was conducted to determine the effects of the habit of
consuming potato chips excessively. The result is, in packaged potato chips it
turns out that it is rich in acrylamide, one of the ingredients that can cause cancer.
Actually, acrylamide is
an organic compound that looks like a crystal in white and does not smell. When
at room temperature, acrylamide can melt into water, ethanol, and chlorophome.
It's just that, if we heat foods with high carbohydrate content such as above
100 degrees Celsius, then this acrylamide will appear.
If we cook potatoes at
high temperatures, we actually produce these compounds. It's just that, the
amount is not much and is still safe for health. Different things happen during
the processing of potato chips or French fries. The content of acrylamide
produced is very large and can cause adverse effects on health.
For information, in a
study conducted by HEATOX, it was stated that in packaged potato chips it could
have up to 39 times more acrylamide content than the safe limit. This high
acrylamide content can then cause cancer.
Actually, in packaging
potato chips not only contain acrylamide, but also various other substances.
According to this study, 52 of them are even included in the harmful
ingredients that can trigger cancer.
Seeing this fact,
health experts advise us to reduce the habit of consuming potato chips and
processed food or other packaging. It would be much better to cook your own
snacks like french fries which are certainly much safer for our health
conditions. In addition, always make sure to apply a healthy lifestyle to
prevent the arrival of various types of diseases, including cancer.
